Description

In 2016, two brothers were searching for their camels and came across several large, dense stones west of the village of Habaswein and south of Sericho, Kenya. The brothers knew something was off when they tried to lift this very heavy dense rock. Later to realize it was no rock, but a billions of year old meteorite. Researchers now know that the meteorites have been prior to 2016, as some of the elder villagers remember playing with the space rocks as kids. To date, more than 2,800kgs have been discovered.

The gold and green hues and crystals known found in this specimen are known as Olivine-- commonly known as the gemstone, Peridot.

We work directly with Meteorite hunters in Kenya to discover these unique Meteorites, all of which are believed to be billions of years old. You can learn more about meteorites and the amazing journeys they've traveled on our blog post, right here!
