Symbolism Behind the Chakra Tree of Life

The Symbolism Behind the Chakra Tree of Life

The Mayans, Christians, Celts, Muslims, Jews, and Buddhists have one thing in common. They each have a connection with the ancient symbol of the tree of life.

Of course, their interpretations vary, and they associate different meanings with the tree. For instance, in the book of Genesis, the tree of life is a source of both, eternal life and abundance. In Buddhism, the tree of life is referenced as the tree of enlightenment under which, Buddha entered Nirvana.

Despite these differences, there are some commonalities. So, let's take a look at what this tree represents, in its most general interpretations.

A Universal Connection

The tree of life represents a universal connection. This means that everything around us is connected, interdependent, and interlinked.

This interpretation comes from observing the tree's almost infinite growth in different directions. It reaches upwards towards the sky, as well as downward into the earth.

Today, many people like to have their own gemstone representations of the tree to remind them that they're never alone. We are all just one consciousness.

Family and Generational Connectivity

The tree represents both, the growth of a family into multiple generations, as well the various links between them. A family, like a tree, starts off as a single seed, blossoming into a more complex system of interdependence and living in harmony.

New branches bring new life, and the tree is a celebration of us and our ancestors who came before us.

Personal Growth

The tree of life stands mighty and tall, living a full robust life. However, it wasn't always like this. The tree started off small, digging its roots deeper into the earth, changing, absorbing, and withstanding storms. Yet, the more it experiences, the more it grows until it can finally stand firm and unwavering.

Each of us has our own "storms" or battles to fight, but it is through these battles that we grow and truly find strengths.

Rebirth

The life cycle of a tree is similar to our own. The tree experiences cold dark winters, and we have our own dark, lonely times. The tree must shed its leaves in the fall, but only to bloom again in the spring.

We have our dark times, no doubt, only to find a light at the end of the tunnel. The tree of life is an important reminder of staying grateful and positive during trying times.

Find Your Own Meaning in the Tree of Life

The tree of life has its roots in various cultures. Perhaps, this in itself shows us the power of interconnectivity.

Nevertheless, you don't have to choose between one meaning or the other; you can find your own meaning. Use it as a symbol of what you want it to be, not what you're told it is.
